It was great to see the army of volunteers out raising money for the life saving clubs on the weekend despite the atrocious weather. I strongly urge other business leaders to help support surf life saving clubs throughout the Coast.
The Gold Coast has been built on the back of the tourism industry and a big part of this is due to the appeal and safety of our beaches.
Without strong lifesaving clubs, we would be in a position where the loss of more lives would potentially detract from the region’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Our family has personally donated more than $375,000 to Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach and Miami surf life saving clubs during the past 10 years.
Most recently, we donated two surf boards worth $3300 to the Miami Surf Life Saving Club this month.
I would strongly urge people to give the lifesavers a helping hand in any way that they can, even if that just means that you visit the surf clubs occasionally to have a beer or a meal with your family and friends.
It is vital that we keep our lifesaving clubs as strong as possible.
See you at the clubs soon.
